Module 1 - What is Reading?
In this module, learners are introduced to the world of reading in a simple and engaging way. Children will discover what reading is, why it is important, and how we can begin to read by looking at pictures and understanding meaning. Through guided exploration with Teacher F and her Beulahland friends, learners will begin to see themselves as readers.

Module 2 - From Sounds to Letters!
In this module, learners begin to explore the exciting world of sounds. Children will learn that sounds are all around us and that letters represent sounds. Through fun listening and sound-making activities, learners will begin to connect sounds with letters, preparing them for the exciting journey of reading words in Beulahland.

Module 3 - Meet Soma the Sunbird (the first Beulanimal Adventure)
The adventure continues beyond the Reading Corner! Join Teacher F and Modupe as they explore the Beulah Jungle and meet Soma the Sunbird, the very first Beulanimal. Along the way, children will discover how sounds can be found all around us and how learning can become an exciting adventure. This special lesson marks the beginning of a brand-new journey into the wonderful world of the Beulanimals!

Reading is when we:

👉 understand what they mean

When you open a book and look at the pictures…

…you are already beginning to read! 🌟

We can read many things!

📱 Phones and tablets
📺 Words on TV

And we can also read things around us like:
🥣 cereal boxes
🥛 milk tins
🍪 biscuit wrappers
👕 the words on your T-shirt
🧢 even your favourite cap!

📖 There’s something to read everywhere you look!

👀 “Can you discover something around you that you can read?”

Have you ever looked at a book before?

🎨 Colours?
🐾 Animals?
😊 People?

That means…

👉 You were already reading!

Reading helps us:
